Disney surprises are the best :)

Jennifer James

We had a special surprise for the kids on this last Disney trip (the "new member of the family" kind of surprise) We told the Disney photographer our little plan: Kyle holds the sign, then we draw the kids attention to the sign, and bam, the kids find out, it's all captured on camera, and we all live happily ever after!

In perfect Disney style, he was thrilled to help us out and was even the one to ask the kids - "Hey, what does your dad's sign say?" All in all, aside from the bustling crowds at the main entrance of Hollywood Studios that almost trampled us in our moment, it was a great time and a fun way to share the news.

We are super excited and feel very blessed to add on to our family again in this way. We look forward to meeting this sweet baby (most likely the last born Sapaugh) in late April/early May.

It's come to this. Her first job is on me.

I am sure it is like this in every house, but when my girls get their hearts and minds set on something, there is just no chance it can casually be resolved or relieved. It takes an act of God or a new obsession to get rid of it. We have had obsessions with hedgehogs, rollerblades, american girl dolls, and so much more. I like to think they will out grow this, but it turns out that the issues just grow with them. Today's example - Tanner & babysitting.

I have spent the last few weeks talking about her strengths & abilities as a babysitter, why people would still love her help even though she is young, how homeschooling gives her extra great hours, bought her a book, & have even texted friends letting them know of her EXTREME desire and availability.....only to get texts starting at 6:30 this morning from a girl who can't even sleep because she so badly wants to babysit.

Lord help me.

So, it has officially come to this - I'm offering to pay whoever will hire her. First job is on me.  I informed her of my new plan this morning & she acted like that was ridiculous. But I just told her desperate times call for desperate measures. And really, she is ridiculous.

Wish her (me) luck.

Exciting Studio News

Jennifer James

So, when I was like 19 years old and newly married, a friend of mine dropped off some burned CD's at my house of a young new artist, Graham Colton. I listened and quickly grew to love him and he has stayed a rotation staple of mine when I am not listening to Disney Jr. in the background. A couple years ago (after a bit of facebook & email stalking) I got the opportunity to open for Graham at Fitzgeralds in Houston. My luck, he had the flu and was literally horizontel at all times that night, except when he was playing, so, we didn't get to hang or connect much at all that night, but still it was super fun.

We have occasionally emailed back and forth since then, and when I released "How Does It Feel" in January, I sent him a copy. He reached out to me saying he would be interested in helping produce my next one, which I though was way cool. So, a couple months ago, I asked him if he'd be interested in working together on 1 song to release as a single, and he said yes!

So, the exciting news is......in a couple weeks on September 30th, I am flying to OKC and working with Graham and his team in his studio to record a newer song of mine called "Boomerang".

I am super excited for the opportunity to meet and work with more talented people & to, hopefully, prove that facebook stalkers can be normal, cool people too. Who knows, if all goes well and the sound and chemistry is good, we will do more than just the one song. We'll just have to wait and see. But I am definitely excited to be back in the studio! And if you have never checked out Graham Colton's music - you need to!! "Hold on To My Heart" is one of my favorites!!

Below, just for grins, is a video of me performing "How Does It Feel" that night that I opened for Graham at Fitzgeralds, almost a year before I recorded it for the new album. It is crazy how different it sounded then compared to now. I think I like both ways!

Graham released his latest album, Lonely Ones, earlier this year - you can find it, along with all his other releases on iTunes.
